"Well, this is… interesting," said Ben. He pushed himself off the wall and began a slow, deliberate inspection of the elevator's interior. He ran a hand over the metal paneling, examining the seams and screws with a detached curiosity.

"Don't you think we should try the button again?" chided Carol, impatiently.

Ben ignored her. He was more interested in the intricate design of the control panel, the texture of the plastic. He ran a finger across the raised numbers, murmuring the sequence to himself, feeling strangely content.

He pulled out a small notepad and pencil from his pocket, began to sketch the controls, adding details, not under any pressure.
